Olympic Crochet

Bomber BabyGood afternoon, crocheters. Just when you think your crochet designs are pretty cool, something amazing comes along.  I just received my spring 2010 issue of Interweave Crochet. www.interweavecrochet.com Check out the article on Olympic Crochet. Artist Shauna Richardson has crocheted life size and life like lions. I was blown away. Even though my bomber jacket at www.pattydavisdesigns is a huge hit with my customers, I feel totally not worthy compared to a life size lion. Truly a work of crochet art.

No  matter what crochet project you are working on, it all a work of art.

Crocheting for Spring

Good morning, crocheters. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I sure did.

Today I’m finishing up my Christmas decorating, and straightening up after company. As soon as I’m finished I will jump right into my spring line again. I’m excited about the two crochet dresses I’ve finished so far. Perfect for Easter! One comes with a wonderful little shrug to keep her warm. I also have a little jean jacket in the works, as well as a line of coats. Can’t wait to share them with you.

I’ve been receiving pics from customers with their darling little ones wearing my designs that they have crocheted. As soon as I get a few more, I will put up the customer gallery. That will be alot of fun.

Have a great crochet day!

Crochet Pattern Orders

PeekaBooGood morning, crocheters. I am excited to say that I received my first crochet pattern order from Ireland today! The order was for my Peek-a-Boo Snowman Sweater. Cool!

This morning I’ve finished putting my designs on Ravelry. What a wonderful crochet community this is. Can’t wait to spend more time on the Ravelry site, getting to know fellow crochet pattern designers.

Today I will be spending most of my day preparing for Thanksgiving company. I love this time of year. There is nothing better, in my mind, than spending quality time with family….and eating lots of yummy food!

I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Crochet Tip

Good morning, Thanksgiving is almost here and my daughter Erin is coming home today! I am so excited I can’t even express my joy. I won’t have much time for crochet today because I have to get her room perfect. I still have alot of work to do on my spring crochet patterns, so I’m sure I’ll be crocheting while were watching the kickoff of Christmas movies.

I do, of course, have another crochet tip for you today. When crocheting a circular border on a sweater, dress, or other project, reverse direction every other row and this will keep the border trim from rolling. It is an easy crochet technique and works beautifully.

Hope you and your family are getting together for a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Patterns on Ravelry

I am happy to announce that my crochet patterns are now on Ravelry. I’m sure most of you are already Ravelry users. If not, and you love crochet (and knitting) it is a wonderful resource. They have great crochet forums, crochet lessons, tips, great patterns…you name it!

On the pattern front, I finished a very sweet spring dress crochet pattern last night. This pattern would be perfect for a darling Easter dress, or for any spring occasion. The bodice has pink and cream stripes and a fun bubble skirt. I haven’t decided what this line will be called. The colors are softer than Brite Babies, but still definitely reflect my love of color and whimsical design.  These patterns will be posted soon. I hope you enjoy crocheting them for a special child in your life.

Crochet Patterns

ChooChooHoodyGood morning. Hope you are planning a productive crochet day. As for me, I am taking a short break from designing my spring crochet line. My daughter Sara wants me to crochet her my Choo Choo Hoodie. I can’t work on it full time or I wouldn’t get anything done in my business. As you can imagine translating my children’s patterns into an adult size takes some time, and takes alot of time to crochet. But, obviously, she’s worth it. Referring to my last post, I’m still working on getting set up on Ravelry. I’m now waiting back for confirmation that I’ve been set up as a designer, then I can start loading my content. Hope to see you all there.

Ravelry

Trim the TreeGood morning, crocheters! Today I am on a mission to get my patterns on Ravelry. I consider myself a fairly savy web user, but for some reason I find setting up on Ravelry really hard. Maybe it’s just me.  I absolutely love this site, and feel it is an important component of growing my crochet design business. So, today is the day I figure it out. Wish me luck! Soon you will be able to find my crochet patterns on Ravelry! Once I get this accomplished I am going to curl up by the fire and continue working on my spring crochet line. Can’t wait to share it with you.
