Crocheting Today

Good morning, crochet friends. No crocheting for me today. Erin is home from college and I want to spend as much time with her as possible. We will probably play cards, do some shopping, eat way too much, and enjoy each other's company. I hope you are all having a wonderful time with your loved ones this Holiday season. I'm sure you are deligently working on some crochet Christmas gifts. For those of you that are crocheting my Christmas designs, I can't wait to see your finished projects! Crochet Tip for Today

Patty---web-2[1]Good morning, crocheters. I have learned the hard way on this tip: when you are changing colors often, on a crochet project, leave an extra long tail on the changing color. This gives you yarn to use when crocheting a finished edge and you won't have to work in as many tails when you are finished. I hope you are all having a wonderful Holiday season. I also trust that you are crocheting some wonderful holiday gifts for loved ones. Everyone loves a beautiful handmade gift! Just remember, the days are ticking away, so crochet, crochet, crochet! signature-pd

Crochet Tip for Today

GroovyBabyGood morning, Crocheters! I'm always amazed at how much texture you put into a crochet garment by simply using different combinations of single and double crochet. I encourage all you crocheters to play with this idea. Even if you have a pattern that calls for single crochet, try mixing up combinations of single and double crochet. It's fun, ads interesting texture, and can make your work even more interesting. There is no end to the possibilities. The dress I'm currently has a simple combination of single crochet, double crochet on one row, then reversing on the next row. It crazy how much fun texture this simple stitch adds. Christmas Dress Pattern

Good morning, crocheters. Do you ever have a total brain block? Boy did I have one yesterday. I was translating my girls Crochet Christmas Dress sizing, and I absolutely could not engage my brain. Frustrating! The good news is that it is completely finished and sent over for publication. Yah! Today I am wrapping up the boys Christmas sweater pattern instructions. So far so good. Once these two are totally out the door, I am starting on Easter. It may seem a little soon, but time goes by so quickly I want to give all my wonderful crocheters a head start on crocheting these designs. Can't wait to share them with you! is short, Crochet more! signature-pd

Holiday Crochet

Isn't it crazy how life gets in the way sometimes. Didn't get the Christmas crochet patterns photographed yesterday, but back on the agenda for today. Both the  little girls Holiday dress and the boys Holiday sweater are a combination of crochet and embroidery. Something a little different but definitely fits with my theme of colorful, whimsical, and extraordinary detail. One tip I'd like to pass along to crocheters: when working in an intricate pattern, always begin and end the row with a regular crochet stitch. This will give you a stronger edge for crocheting pieces together. Have A Great Crochet Day! signature-pd

Knitter becomes Crocheter

OhSoSweetMy weekend with Kathy was wonderful! I was impressed with how quickly she picked up crochet. I'm sure being a long time knitter helped her alot. Kathy is crocheting the Oh So Sweet Dress and we came up with a great idea. I've been toying with the  idea of translating my Brite Babies TM collection into knitting, as well as crochet. It would be wonderful to be able to offer my patterns to both crocthers and knitters. Kathy is going to give it a shot. I'll let you all know when we add knitting to the Brite Babies line. signature-pd
